Thread: Grub won't boot ubuntu... Any way to get it to?

alrighty. i'm cool.... really... weirdly.. calm. week ago reinstalled windows , ubuntu side side give windows tad more room games (33.3 gigs not enough play huge games.... 100 might be.)

today, decided reinstall programs apt on cd. have natty, , used cd restore programs. restored /etc , /home folders... forgot 11.11... oops ? have apt on cd kde & xfce , has update 11.11... after restoring folders, couldn't access admin , when restarted got blank, purple screen. oh well.... way grub boot ubuntu, , after that, how can log in (since lost admin privs) , how can restore admin? easier reinstall ubuntu? can that... i've done before. partitions set up, matter of reinstalling. don't wanna.

ahhh, feeling of "i don't care" has come on me... seeing thisi s seventeenth (or more) time i've done this....

you should still able log in, not gui desktop. try pressing ctrl + alt + f1 - login prompt? if so, try logging in normal username , password, letting know in here. if not - see reinstall on horizon

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
