Thread: new boot added to my bootup?

i have windows 7 , added ubuntu partition today , after did security updates , restarted (in ubuntu),there new ubuntu selection in boot loader .now have 2 ubuntu things in boot loader. why did , normal?

the additional entry newer kernel 1 on original installation. kernels added during updates, included in grub menu. in latest versions of grub, rather expand main menu older kernels hidden in submenu.

it's best keep @ least 1 older kernel know works in case have problems latest one.

if want remove these kernels menu, can physically uninstall older kernels or hide them menu. app called grub customizer can hide them, while ubuntu tweak can remove them os.

can information on ubuntu tweak , other ways remove/hide kernels in thread:
howto: remove older kernels via gui
