Thread: Skype freezing and taking over 100% of CPU

hello everyone

think i'm getting better @ ubuntu stuff - far!

today bring issue skype , i'm on ubuntu 11.10.

version: skype:i386 2.2.0.35-0oneiric2

downloaded ubuntu software centre , installed fine. included indicator support qt (sni-qt).

on main ubuntu machine find randomly skype freeze. instantly, takes 30 mins, 4 hours later... no real way of telling when freeze @ least.

way close , restart application using system monitor , killing process (end , other options not work). when go kill process, find taking anywhere between 140% , 160% of cpu. i'm not sure how can take on 100% fair play trying. it's not processor issue because i'm running intel core 2 quad cpu q6600 @ 2.40ghz , operates @ around 4-11% cpu usage. memory 3gb , running @ around 1.1gb anyway. these usage figures typical use (multiple firefox tabs...libre writer open... maybe banshee etc)

find happens if i'm using voice , video chat, less if i'm using 1 or other , less if i'm using normal text - has happened 3 of these combinations.

i've tried reinstall there has been no change.

great.

thank kindly.

qt needed in kde or kde applications. though skype gkt+ based.
anyway try remove , install deb file found on skype website.
