Thread: Windows doesn't recognize Hard Drive


hi there,

after 2 days trying several solutions found on windows/linux forums, decided ask specific problem. whenever boot windows 7 cd , reach step have decide install os, windows can't find hard drive. i've tried several solutions on internet, , faced erros between steps, not tell details concerning tutorials have tried.

- hard disk one: st31000528as barracuda 7200.12 sata 3gb/s 1tb

, current partitions these:

* /dev/sda2 place i'd install windows, after try many times - on hands - happy formatting whole hd , reinstalling whole thing, ubuntu , windows 7

faced problem already? whats solution?

i'm not 100% sure on problem can see couple of possibilities. first sda4 shown sfs partition type. might indicate @ time have exceeded maximum number of primary partitions available (which 4 ).when happens windows change partition type sfs, dynamic disk, rather basic. makes installing other operating systems impossible.
should try format sda4 ntfs , see if helps.

second point windows likes think system on drive , therefore likes in first partition on drive. whether cause problem when installing, i'm not sure.

try formatting sda4 ntfs first , see if installer recognise it.
