File opened as an old version

i created file in illustrator cs6 (creative cloud version), , saved pdf illustrator editing capabillities preserved. saved fine, when opened file in illustrator cs6 again more editing today, gave me earlier version of file instead of lastest version saved last night. however, file opened correctly in quick look, preview , photoshop cs6. i've tried make copy of file, , open copy in different folder, deleting illustrator preferences, had no luck. please help, dont want spend 1.5 hours redo things i've done. thank you!!!

according timezone, wrote post shortly after midnight , it's 10 in morning nobody having replied far. beginning see why waiting things out on forum might not idea? neither saving critical data non-native format without having backup or incremental versions go to. read (for next time):

that aside, might try place file in ai access pdf parts or similarly, sanitize document in acrobat strip ai data , force program use pdf content next time open it. else may try run ai in recovery mode , try repair file way...

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
