I am having trouble establishing file association between .PDF files and Adobe Reader.

i having trouble establishing file association between .pdf files , adobe reader.  when click on .pdf file, adobe reader not open file.  installed adobe reader on lenovo g480 laptop using windows 8.  when attempted open file called believe g480_user_guide.pdf, file called nitro_pdf opened.  when right clicked g480_user_guide.pdf , chose open with, found nitro_pdf default program opening file.  tried change program found adobe reader not listed.  chose option searching computer file open.  found folder adobe in program files x64 not able find executable.  adobe reader executable or other method can use establishing file association between .pdf files , adobe reader.

reader in x86 folder: c:\program files (x86)\adobe\reader 11.0\reader\acrord32.exe

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
