Program-wide color change across Illustrator CS6.

i'm in os x 10.8.3 working in illustrator cs6. have macbook pro hooked calibrated nec pa271w monitor.

i've been working on cmyk design documents mix of process , pantone. art created in illustrator , vector. going fine, colors looked great , super-accurate monitor. then...

i exporting design pdf via save copy. pdfs i'm sending client review, chose convert colors destination srgb in pdf options dialogue can reviewed on screen.

upon viewing pdf using quicklook in finder, noticed that—rather being converted srgb , looking pretty-close cmyk ai file—the pdf extremely dull if colors had been desaturated 50%.

i tried other variations of export , not colors right (note: did exact same exports many times on last week , looked great). finally, restarted comp thinking perhaps temporary bug.

upon opening design file in illustrator -- elements in design file we'll color palettes within illustrator had same horrible desaturated look! cmyk proof preview not turned on affects files, worked in past. didn't knowingly change settings in illustrator (is there make-all-colors-look-grayed-out shortcut don't know about?!).

this killing me because i'm on tight deadline. things i've tried:

  • trashed custom color profiles , re-calibrated
  • trashed colorsync prefs , cache
  • ran colorsync validation on profiles, fixed problems
  • checked cs6 color synchronized
  • checked profiles on documents correct (though knew wasn't because of random nature of change.
  • restarted mac bunch of times.
  • ran onyx automated cleaning.

i @ wit's end -- suggestions might causing this?

got monitor? got computer? if have monitor, hook up. if not , have computer altogether, @ pdf in acrobat on it.
