Thread: how to enable or install SATA AHCI driver in Ubuntu 10.04

i need find out how enable or install sata ahci driver in ubuntu 10.04 when have bios serial ata setting ide compatibility mode ? multi-boot system 2009 few versions of windows installed, (all installed when in ide emulation compatibility mode, , changing ahci mode in bios). has asus p5ql motherboard intel p43 express ihc10 chip set.

can search correct sata driver in synaptic package manager , have install, either kernel or initial ram disk boot files can load needed sata hard drive ahci device driver. ? or catch 22 issue in xp ?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
