Thread: How to update packages and security updates?

hi,

did ssh ubuntu server today , says

37 packages can updated.
31 updates security updates.

how can update?

tried without success:

code:
sudo apt-get update
many thanks,

the command ran check updates . apply them run following , asked if want proceed .
code:
sudo apt-get upgrade

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
