Thread: Monitor image shifted to the left

hello,

i'm running kubuntu 11.04, 64-bit on toshiba satellite a300 connected external monitor. i'd use both laptop monitor , external monitor. couldn't set in system settings, put following commands in /etc/kde4/kdm/xsetup:

code:
xrandr --newmode "1280x1024_60.00" 109.00 1280 1368 1496 1712 1024 1027 1034 1063 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode vga1 "1280x1024_60.00" xrandr --output lvds1 --auto xrandr --output vga1 --mode "1280x1024_60.00" --left-of lvds1
now resolution of both monitors ok frequency , configuration (external monitor primary). problem black vertical strip on right of external monitor (see photos). prevents me seeing leftmost part of desktop. how rid of it? know it's not monitor settings, cause don't have strip in windows , width of strip changes randomly each boot.

, don't tell me install 11.10, it's buggy hell.

try using lower resolution on external monitor (i recommend 1024x768). circuits in old crt monitors can't handle higher resolutions. though can select higher resolution, it's still possible monitor not support it.
