Thread: Reinstalling Ubuntu to same partition

recently, ubuntu installation messed when computer crashed during upgrade. therefore need reinstall ubuntu scratch, , have made usb stick latest version. however, unsure partitioning part of installation.

computer set dual boot both ubuntu , windows 7. point installer says have multiple oss installed, , asks whether install alongside, erase disk, or else.

assume need select else, , can identify ubuntu partitions in screen shows (an ext4 partition @ /dev/sda5 , swap partition @ /dev/sda6), not clear me need in screen. want use same partitions had ubuntu installed on before. meant here? in advance.

choose ext4 partition (/dev/sda5)

right click edit it.

choose use ext4 journaling file system.

choose format it.

give mountpoint of /

installer should recognise swap partition check recognised swap space if like.

do not touch other partitions

that's it.

except backing don't want loose. partitioning drives can go wrong.
