Thread: Samba in Apache giving me slow transfer speeds.

i've had fileserver running off of old box pieced togeather while now. finished uploading @ least 100gb's worth of crap @ around 300kb/s. slow, got job done, , stream avi's out of samba shares @ decent enough speed.

wanted able access of these files on net, installed lamp setup , got apache working. i've tested on internet, , it's working. problem is, instead of getting slow 300kb/s, i'm barely getting around 30kb/s, , freezes that. useless besides webpage.

samba shares in var/www directory, although can still connect them via network folder on ubuntu laptop. ftp, gui network shares, , downloading them through http://myip : port/files garner same speeds.

got ideas?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
