Thread: Ubuntu and GNOME3

hi all,
had ubuntu 11.04 natty going good. installed gnome-tweak-tool , dependencies.i played themes , stuffs. working well. there 1 problem, desktop notifications new mail, chat notifications of ubuntu gone. in course of getting back, accidentally uninstalled librarys send nofications daemon(libnotify lik dat..) when rebooted system login screen appeared couldnt login showed " couldnt update .iec authority'" close.

searched threads. ran commands thru terminal. nothing paid off. removed gnome shell using command "sudo apt-get autoremove gnome-shell" gnome session "sudo apt-get autoremove gnome-session" didn log in screen thereafter. ly notice change path showing coulnt update .iec authority changed in dialog box appearing "/home/usr/" "/var/lib/gdm/".....this due commands ran. once in course once enabled autologin user using command "sudo nano /etc/gdm/custom.conf" later disabled autologin using same command.

in course used nmcli command connect usb modem network.it paid off once thru reinstalled gnome-shell( removed said b4). available connections not shown command "nmcli con"...but usb modem shown in list shown "nmcli dev"..... couldn able connect inenet too....

bottom line when boot linux black screen appears , dialog box stating "could not update .iecauthority in /var/lib/gdm/"..... locate command shows 2 locations of file 1 in /home/usr/.... other in /var/lib/gdm/....

supposed now.
