Thread: Vmware cannot access usb devices

since upgrading oneric, can apparently forget getting usb devices recognized in vmware player (running 4.0.1 windows xp guest).

problem newer kernels no longer support config_usb_devices, meaning no /proc/bus/usb folder exists.

moreover, folder cannot created or activated /etc/fstab entries such usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs auto 0 0, because kernel support usbfs no longer there. apparently, usbfs deprecated , should no longer used! instead, hal udev used.

there workarounds?
ubuntu/kubuntu users have forsake vmware completely?!
others must have same problem?!
, comments appreciated, thanks!

just noticed post... i've had no issues usb devices 11.04, 11.10, , 12.04. can't why is. vmware player 4.0.1 works except 12.04, requires patch, @ least until beta of it, i.e., 12.04, comes out.
