Thread: 11.10 2Q's--1) When minimize open file, where does it go? 2) Add apps to upper panel

1) when minimize open file in unity (11.10), drives me crazy can't locate again unless again click on icon open file. perhaps because using netbook , bottom panel not fitting on screen? big problem-- if have 5 apps or files open, can't shuttle between 1 , other due lack of appearing along bottom panel.

2) there upper panel? in gnome used adding apps upper panel use alot. facility in unity? way add launchers each app side panel?

1. view opened applications/files press windowskey + w
switching between applications/files press alt + tab

more unity shortcuts , wallpaper shortcuts:

2. adding shortcut sidepanel (launcher) easy. open applicaation want add toi sidepanel.. if go mouse sidepanel see icon. right click on application , select keep in launcher. added launcher.

there no top panel in gnome 2. every program either started launcher or dash (open dash windows key or click on ubuntu logo in top left corner of launcher)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
