Thread: 8.04 and tripp lite ups

i use help. thank in advance advice leads opinions or directions.

goal

want tripp lite ups model omnismart500 ubuntu 8.04.3 headless server.

have tried

have downloaded powstatd repositories. ups runs usb connection , configuration of powstatd seems tilted toward serial connection.

tripp lite has functional equivalents of windows software, poweralert, in opensuse , fedora. tried see if these persuaded run in ubuntu machine. used apt alien , not rpm packages deliver working app or daemon (whatever called).

do

have been able run powstatd in test mode. believe information provides in test mode reports on serial connections understand not quite same usb connections.

seem @ impasse. have heard nut not sure works usb.

again or suggestions may offered.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
