Thread: Can not resize window and other issues

after old box built in 2004 died, bought first brands name, dell xps 8300 windoze 7 installed. decide down load wubi , try out different flavors of ubuntu, not overlycjoyed new ubuntu desktop.

installed kbuntu try , xububtu. after couple of days xubuntu started act up. lost ability resize windows, switch desktops, move windows. way close window goto file , click on quit.

installed xubuntu permanently couple of days ago , today same issues occurred.

there fix short of reinstalling?

i think solution in thread.

should delete hidden ~/.cache/session file might contaminated faulty session settings.

sporadic bug of xfce window manager, xfwm4. if repeatedly might want try window manager. machine should handle compiz fine , provides nice 3d effects. install fusion-icon permanent panel icon through can restart or switch window manager on demand, handy when display giving trouble.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
