Thread: 11.04 Viewport Switcher

upgraded 11.04 past summer. i've been trying workspace switcher working on other box, running 10.10.

on 10.10 box, can run separate instances of apps on each screen. example, can open 4 different instances of firefox, each pointing different website.

no can on 11.04. can switch 4 workspaces, when bring app in one, go workspace, same instance comes up, , kicks workspace #1. in effect, workspace switcher worthless it's set now.

i'm convinced @ point it's compiz manager setting, ok me (workspace switcher enabled, etc).

have suggestions on try?

in short, has nothing workspace switcher @ all, ability open multiple instances of given app. this, can either use middle-click of mouse, if have one, or app's menu. then, multiple instances behave used to, stick workspaces on opened/located them, is.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
