Thread: After installation, booting from hard disc results in a hang at BusyBox shell

hello ubuntu forms. first post. i've got problem something, i'm not entirely sure what. i've search forms best could, not find problem specifically.

i'm having problems starting installation of ubuntu 11.10. when launching demo livecd had enable option acpi=off boot. when not enable said option busybox v1.18.4 built-in shell error:

(initramfs) unable find medium containing live file system.

however, when enable option, after waiting 15~30 seconds @ ubuntu loading screen, see screen of 11 black , white alternating horizontal bars random color pixels scattered across screen. after waiting 15~25 seconds screen disappears , desktop loads.

installed via 'install ubuntu 11.10' file on desktop after launching 'test ubuntu' option. installation went fine, , produced no errors.

when restart computer , boot hard drive end @ grub screen options boot normal or safe mode , memory tests. choose normal kernal (at top) , wait boot. ends sending me same busybox shell before without messages underneath. stalls @ screen (initramfs) , no cursor. neither mouse nor keyboard work @ stage of boot process (no lights/ input).

appreciated, have overwritten previous operating system , running livecd.

edit: upon trying boot in safety mode there lot of text spit out while trying boot. (after grub) included missing file, , that reason dumping me shell. unfortunately, scrolled fast couldn't write down missing. included lot of numbers.

if there information should including in thread please let me know! i've been trying figure thing out day now, , starting turn me off on linux. i'm installing amd64 distribution, have problem?

also, re-ran safety mode thing , got numbers/letters. message said like: "cannot find dev/disk/by-uuid/bdcdd35b-0bc5-48e8-x... couldn't last few.
