Thread: BSNL Broadband connection

i have installed ubuntu 11.10 (latest version) second os in system. first windows xp. newly have bought bsnl broadband connection. works in windows xp. whereas in ubuntu not automatically detected. (after getting bsnl connection, have newly installed latest ubuntu version fresh copy)

have tried sudo pppoeconf

checks system sometime , throws following error:

"sorry, scanned 1 interface, access concentrator of provider did not respond. please check network , modem cables. reason scan failure may running pppoe process controls modem."

system configuration follows:

amd phenom[tm] 8750
triple-core processor
2.40ghz, 2.87 gb of ram

modem is:

beetel
220bx
adsl2 + modem

can helpme solve problem?

usb modems never great. option if available router supports wireless/ ethernet. relatively cheap now.

seems have been able work out soltion here, it's old post imagine work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
