Thread: How does Unity decide in which monitor to open a window?

this bizarre question, wondering if knows how unity desktop interface decides in monitor open program launcher. have dual monitor setup @ work , arrange things email , browser in particular workspaces , on particular monitor. instance, keep evolution in left monitor on upper left workspace , google chrome in right monitor in bottom right workspace. interestingly, whenever launch evolution launcher, opens right monitor , have move on (which little bit of hassle since behaves pretty buggy , pops right monitor few times before stick in left when drag menubar over) , google chrome opens in left side , have move right. isn't big deal, curious how works. it's pretty amusing of programs open same monitor, 80% of time, it's monitor don't want open to.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
