Thread: jdk1.6.0_29 for ubuntu 11.10


hi geeks

unable install jdk1.6.0_29 version of java ....
installed 7 before uninstalled through software centre ...

tried this

root@ubuntu:/home/elysium# sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-jdk

package sun-java6-jre not available, referred package.

not 100% sure previous java versions before v1.6_30 affected well. symptoms describe might suggest are:

oracle has revoked license linux distributions repackage original java installation packages provided oracle .deb or .rpm packages , offer them in own repositories.
consquence canonical no longer allowed offer oracle jre or oracle jdk packages download , installation.
yet, oracle generously permits download jre/jdk packages oracle java download pages , install them yourself.
