Thread: Rma for a bad 6950? Broken Capacitor. Solder? Returnable?

well, got diamond 6950 (reference) 2 gb graphics card christmas. , last night started build pc discover when turned on graphics card fan rattled, thought loose piece of plastic causing problem, opened (the shroud) find capacitor hanging loose under fan slot causing fan blade disrupted. removed fan/vapor chamber block capacitor, cut looks relatively clean, i'd rather not solder on. wondering diamond and/or tiger direct accept rma on graphics card if it's been "opened" ? hope so, big investment. help. , if knows how should/could solder on, please let me know. thanks!

if you've reassembled it, have nothing lose contacting vendor , see if rma you.

if no, try returning seller.

if won't take back, try fixing it.

try various solutions in order.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
