Code Navigator problems (CS6 on a Mac)

when click on element (e.g. paragraph of text), code navigator opens window displaying list of selectors apply element i'm focussing on.

 

when hover on 1 of selectors, should show list of properties apply selector (colour, font, margin etc). hover doesn't work – nothing happens.

 

please can explain why might happening (or rather not happening!). i've checked preferences couldn't see might have inadvertantly turned off. it's frustrating!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
