File extension problem

hi chaps,

 

i have piece of analysis software produce file extension .jdf , need open particullar piece of software called mestrenova manipulate it. problem is...jdf extension of adobe acrobat job definition file. can go file in snow lepord (osx) 'get info' , change individual files default open mestrenova hit 'change all' button, .jdf files revert acrobat defualt. it's infuriating , have no idea how resolve without installing 3rd party software, i'd rather not. using more jdf in mestrenova if ever in acrobat need change this. bugged acrobat or osx?

as understand it, apps contain list of file types can handle. it's passive list, part of installation, in file somewhere. unlike windows, there 1 app per file type , can changed, each app permanently records of file types. it's mac os x make actual decisions, , if offers permanent, doesn't stick, i'd looking mac os x solution.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
