Flash Player 11 download issue

i have been trying unsuccessfuly install flash player 11.  goes 50% of way , tells me need turn off internet explorer in order complete download.  what???  internet explorer browser how else supposed on internet , update?  tried suggestion making sure scripting enabled, , is.  tried turning off norton firewall see if helped no luck.  please help, getting increasingly more aggravating!!!!!  thanks!   using windows 7.

see how close internet explorer , other programs running on windows?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
