InDesign CS6: How do I set Character Color to Unspecified/Undefined in the Paragraph Style Options?

is there way create paragraph style leaves character color unspecified?  have bunch of existing text frames containing characters of various colors. when apply paragraph style, text changed black. want text color remain unchanged; is, want paragraph style's character color attribute undefined.  how do this?

 

all of text frames in case have character style set [none]. text colors applied individually, not via use of character styles.

on mac it's "command+click swatch" deselect it; see on windows, it's "ctrl+click".

 

scratch above, that's character styles.

 

there no way in paragraph style. paragraph styles must define everything.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
