Just installed CF10; can't bring up admin login, error 503

i installed cf10 on rhel 5.7 system , cannot render administrator login. error 503, service unavailable message. digging deeper see apache connector failing connect port 8012 , error suggests either tomcat not running or port definition incorrectly defined. don't think either 1 of these case. notice number of connector issues original release of cf10. first, there solution this? also, current download of cf10 include hotfixes?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
