My Photoshop CS3 stops working immediately upon loading

a pop appears saying has encountered problem stop working correctly.  i've tried reload software repair it, i'm told has been successful, when try load cs3 again problem still there.  please can advise?  i've been using cs3 years , have never encountered before.  

delete preferences in respective folder:

 

important directories

 

anything beyond wil lrequire more information on part.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
