Thread: 11.10 Update Manager frozen in mid-change

i've completed new install of 11.10 on toshiba a30 satellite.
suffered frozen touchpad, , had use terminal perform update yesterday.
morning plugged in new usb mouse , seemed work ok.
update manager wanted run, started that, getting fas "configuring software-center" in "applying changes", has frozen.
can't open details drop down see it's reached, advice next move.
abandon it, switch off , try again, or can try else first ?

tapped on/off button couple of times, , hd sprang life, , pop offered shutdown,restart, etc.
cancelled, , update manager told me restart.

seems behaving itself, wait nervously.
i'll leave trying turn touch pad on few days, let dust settle.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
