Thread: Can't install any version less than 11.10

i install maverick (or lucid) on laptop (specs in signature), oo or pp successful every time no errors. using flashdrive or external dvd player installation fails @ various stages...depending on whether trying live or alternate iso - ending blank screen. error 'too many connections'. before blank screen. googled error, not successful far. on desktop computer there no problem type of installation.

i had same problem. drivers graphics card. did plug computer tv via hdmi port. when logged in additional drivers window showed , activated ati/amd proprietary fglrx graphics driver. worked after that, not great performance.

once driver installed, read thread post update drivers working! did , running lot more smoothly now! http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1857911

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
