code:
1. download stone soup code from, http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...-0.4.5-src.zip.  remember is!  2. install following prerequisites before compile  3. sudo apt-get install libpng3   4. sudo apt-get install bison   5. sudo apt-get install libpng12-dev  6. sudo apt-get install g++   7. sudo apt-get install libx11-dev   8. sudo apt-get install flex   9. navigate directory saved stone_soup-0.4.5-src.zip file downloaded in step #1.   10. unzip stone_soup-0.4.5-src.zip   11. cd stone_soup-0.4.5-src.zip   12. cd source   13. gedit makefile, @ start of file change   makefile ?= makefile.unix   #makefile ?= makefile.dos   #makefile ?= makefile.osx  #makefile ?= makefile.mgw   #makefile ?= makefile_tiles.mgw   #makefile ?= makefile.x11      #makefile ?= makefile.unix   #makefile ?= makefile.dos  #makefile ?= makefile.osx  #makefile ?= makefile.mgw  #makefile ?= makefile_tiles.mgw  makefile ?= makefile.x11    , save file.     14. should still in stone_soup-0.4.5-src/source directory.  type make.   if compiles without error can run stone soup tiles typing ./crawl!    15. have fun!
but @ end make fails in error 2, have ideas?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
