Thread: Making GRUB2 recognize both Windows partitions
i had ubuntu 10.04 lts , windows 7 installed , dual-booting without problem. installed windows xp along them , problem has developed. after windows xp wiped out grub2 mbr, re-installed it.. did 'update-grub'. windows xp not detected when updated grub2 , when boot windows 7 windows xp. think need set "set root" parameters grub2 point each correct address each windows resides on computer. not sure how go doing , hoping me out. have attached screen shot of hard disk: sda5 linux, sda7 linux swap, sda6 windows xp, , sda2 windows 7. have attached screen shot of grub.cfg http://i40.tinypic.com/1ovno6.png http://i41.tinypic.com/143gs2e.jpg
my experience suggests need sort windows boot arrangements. installing xp, messed win7/xp boot structure, , amount of messing grub won't win7 - need boot repair correct windows utility (which is, unfortunately, beyond things have done).
else may have different opinion, mine based on trying set boot of xp after messing booting me , linux on same hdd.
