Thread: Networked Brother DCP-315CN scanner doesn't work in Oneiric

i have networked brother dcp-315cn printer/scanner i've been using ubuntu since version 7.10. each new version has required own tricks far, i've been able make machine work - until v11.10.

printing no problem , has become easier years, not requiring drivers brother web pages scanning function leaves me without clue do. i've downloaded , installed brscan2 (which hasn't been updated brother since 2009) , other related drivers earlier ubuntu versions. have applied tip copying number of files /usr/lib64 /usr/lib no use.

brsaneconfig 2 -q tells me i've correctly configured , registered scanner, , dpkg -l tells me drivers installed still, no scanner application detects it.

scanimage -l, scanimage -t, sane-find-scanner, , brsaneconfig2 -d state there no scanner device connected, find strange since 2 computers in house still running v11.04 see scanner, , can anyway print on device oneiric.

piece of advice can put me on forward-moving track extremely warmly appreciated.

networked - 'having own ip address , built-in server' or 'attached pc on network'?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
