Thread: webcam not recognized in usb behind desktop

this kind of odd. have purchased web cam. looked @ compatibility information ubuntu , selected logictec 525 webcam. got home , pluged usb ports in front of machine test right away make sure worked. worked great. able take pictures, video, video conferencing etc.. have had no problems web cam long plug usb port in front of machine.

however... that's not ideal setup. so, unplugged camera , plugged 1 of usb ports on of machine. now... ubuntu doesn't recognize @ all. i've tried rebooting machine , sorts of online guides. it's camera isn't @ all.

@ first thought maybe wrong usb ports in of machine. however, can plug in of thumb drives in these same usb ports , works fine. use usb wifi. i've moved around. can tell, of usb ports work perfectly. ubuntu cannot seem recognize web cam plugged back.

mean, now, plugging in 1 of front usb ports when think i'll need works fine. it's not need every day. hassle. nice plug of machine , leave alone.

suggestions? or has else experienced similar problem?

just read post.. may not clear. mean here can plug usb webcam in usb port in front of machine , works every time. if plug in usb port in of machine, ubuntu doesn't seem recognize it. using same processes. difference usb port it's plugged into.
