Is there a problem with Photoshop select color range under update 13.0.4?

using mac os 10.6.8 , updated photoshop version 13.0.4.  select color range not working properly.  won't select black or white in black on white logo.  created layer half green , half red.  select color range work (in strange fashion linked invert button on pop screen) green half not red half.  majic wand works fine either must use select color range quite bit in work flow.

 

is compatibility issue or bug?  have found couple of recent references same thing photoshop versions 13.0.4 on web no information on cause or correction.  downloading 13.0.4 update again , reinstall see if fixes problem know if have go previous version recapture functionalily.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
