Thread: ATI drivers problem after new version

hi guys , girls,
had beautiful ubuntu 11.10 kde , unity , tried install gnome-shell. installed without problems during installation, after restart when @ enter-session-screen choosed gnome , logged in there poor visual efects , bad interface @ all. didn't picture it, i'm sure wasn't right.
searched @ internet , found problem may in drivers.
video drivers default, system tell install @ first boot @ icon there clock
downloaded latest catalyst drivers amd site , installed them following instructions, nothing happened. afer reboot there no picture on screen. booted "recovery mode" , in command line type "sudo apt-get install fglrx" . again ot first step.
tried install again drivers, there problem again, , don't know did ( ) ubuntu not starting again. shows when type "startx":



there solution?
thank you.

p.s. how english?

every time log gnome session amd/ati cards, looks doodoo. stick kde.

i'm on mobile, can't see image well. left command line?

after installed driver, did do

code:
sudo aticonfig --initial
before shutting down?

edit: come think -- did uninstall previous driver first?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
