the reason black screen, appeared kernel26-2.6.37 (for kernel26-2.6.38). have tried other linux distributions same versions of kernel26 check whether kernel cause of problem. turns out yes. yesterday on separate partition installed arch unlocked testing repository. made complete configuration x(xfce4) , added user groups. unfortunately, pre-load system. log on shell user account , execution startx taking place black screen. graphical environment loaded if monitor 10% brightness. see i'm doing on desk, have watch distance of 5-10cm. black screen appears regardless of whether kms active or inactive. join logs read: dmesg.log , xorg.0.log. how deal problem? should report it? if need more information ... please write , i'll try put them here.

that solution work me when install linux kernel lts (2.6.35), apply solution , update

[i had same problem, solved adding /etc/rc.local setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=00  adjust brightness add kernel line: acpi_osi=linux

have ideas how can install ubuntu 11.10 or 12.04(alpha/ daily build ??

now have correctly instaled ubuntu 12.04 daily build (alternate cd), can use/boot in safe mode becouse in normal mode have black screan, in safe mode fine.

have ideas should fix normal mode ?
