Thread: Move hard drive to new system

bit of noob unbuntu , followed guide years ago setup basic file server. since works , never wanted touch until now.

know if can move current storage drives (3 -2tb drives ubuntu 8.04 lts server new build ubuntu lts server without loss of data or screw them up.

want unplug current drives , move them , plug them new system add them fstab file them mount them , add samba config file. without losing important data. how or can this????

drives formatted ntfs , setup samba on headless server.

if data drives can that.

drive containing actual os have modifications. ie: reconfigure sda /boot new os.

should not hard issue resolve. straight forward.

loss of data occurs when reformatting or partitioning drive itself.
