Thread: Problems installing Wubi; with error messages

i'm trying install ubuntu on laptop running windows xp 32 bit, have 705mb of ram. issue when use windows installer provided goes until reboot dual boot window pops , gives me option of windows or ubuntu. have tryed installing twice, same error messages second time installed having little more detail.... first time went this: try (hd 0,0) ntfs5 error "prefix" not set..... went in grub command prompt thing , had shut down , re boot in windows. un , re installed ubuntu before reinstalled ran chkdsk c:/f amd chkdsk c:/r.... reinstalled ubuntu , tried run in dual boot menu , got........ ntfs5 error "prefix" not set uncompression error _ _ system halted have no idea , want new os since windows in giving xp bird in 123 or days, no more updates
