Thread: SAMBA not initializing

hi all.. i'm new user ubuntu please bear me .. i've searched on forums still no luck i'm trying samba work enable file sharing between windows , linux installs. problem follows:
when select samba ubuntu 11.10 installed applications, asks password. after typing correct password, nothing happens. repeat, nothing. i've done following resolve:

1. removed samba using sudo apt-get remove samba
2. reinstalled samba using sudo apt-get install samba (and sambasystem-config-samba)
3. upgraded samba using sudo apt-get upgrade samba
4. restarted pc

successful, same problem every time try run samba. doing dummy pls help!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
