Thread: ubuntu sucking up processor power (xubuntu 11.10) - running hot on dell laptop


here running xubuntu 11.10 on dell inspiron m5010 (triple core machine)

showing ~ 60% usage on 2 processors - nothing running

it's running hot

top shows "dbus-daemon" @ ~ 65% cpu

ati/amd proprietary fglrx graphics driver installed
(without installing correct graphics driver machine runs hot anyway)

newly installed xubuntu 11.10 here - whats up?

help

running hot due insulating dust give clean. try running distro called puppy ( runs in ram cd , won't touch actual hd install unless ask ) cross check. if doesn't run hot know dealing software problem. install sysinfo ( in standard repositories ) use post system specs, might people know more me diagnose hardware specific software bug. there small program in repositores gets specific cpu temperatures, lm-sensors, handy diagnostics too. if put in enter "sensors" without quotes in terminal use it. sorry isn't fix diagnostic advice call elaborate bump. luck.
