Thread: vmware can't type password

hi joined these forums.

have never used linux os before installed ubuntu 11.10 sever using vmware (version 7.0.0) installation completed successfully, issue when reboots after install , goes black screen asks me login i'm able type in username when try type in password says blank not able type password. clarify did manual install in vmware have solution issue? have been researching 2 hours , brain's fried anyone's input appreciated thank you

p.s if able login able access graphical os? (sorry if sound noob)

if logging on via command line, normal password stay blank. type in normal.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
