Brand new mac running slow in adobe programs

my brand new mac computer @ work used design purposes has been running incredibly slow past few days. beach ball coming more 1-2 minutes. within adobe programs slower. example though, when running spotify skipping parts of song though internet connected fine. please helppp!!!

can provide more detail. system (which mac, processor, how memory)? disk space capacity, , how full disk (available space?) of these things can affect performance on new machine, , details know when troubleshooting no other clues.

 

go apple menu > mac. resulting screen gives basic info system, , can click "more info" greater detail. creative suite take quite bit of resources, on new machines, if spotify choppy, might have problem unrelated adobe software.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
