Rename Lightroom 4.4 imported images with unique numbers?
i want rename images imported card lightroom 4.4 single set of initials followed sequence of unique numbers. number sequence continue 1 import next. however, each time start new import, lightroom starts again @ 00001. there way instruct lightroom automatically continue renumbering sequence 1 import next without manually resetting "start" number each time?
what described filenaming convention exactly, long while.
i constructed unique numbers using:
shoot-name (enter number)
file-number (aka filename-number-suffix).
pros: accomplishes goal, , filenames *very* short.
cons: have manually manage job shoot number in case image-number rolls over.
if lightroom supported folder number, well, since unique number be:
{folder-number}{file-number}.
but, lightroom doesn't (support folder number).
my new filenaming convention assures uniqueness using combination of date-time , other stuff:
{date}{photographer-initials}{time}{camera-designation}{image-number}.{extension}
pros: supported lr native filenaming features (although don't use import dialog box importing, nor native lightroom naming). and, alphabetical order same capture time order, except divvied photographer (note: *not* divvied camera photographer used, unless both used during same second).
cons: *very* verbose, , not readable.
so answer question more specifically: no: i'm not aware of sequence number accomplishes goal exactly, yes: there way without it.
