Thread: Install Ubuntu on Eee PC 1015PX (*over* Win7 Starter)
system / situation:
bought new asus eee pc 1015px notebook w/ win7 starter os factory pre-installed.
objective:
- install u10.04.3 lts i386 desktop
- eliminate win7 starter os in process
tools in inventory:
- cd burned u10.04.3 lts desktop i386 (presumably bootable as-is)
- usb created pendrive / u10.04.3 lts desktop i386 (presumably bootable as-is)
- cd , usb above both created using win7 / ibm desktop system
why assume 10.04.3 choice:
- it's recent lts version - best techno-putz skill-level (?)
problems:
- user-iq rating: clumsy beginner - *basic* experience ubuntu 8 , 9 on eee pc including *basic* terminal / command line
- tons of conflicting info available ubuntu version use on 1015px
- tons of conflicting , piecemeal info available installation process/choices, , post-installation tweaks 1015px
questions:
- u10.04.3 desktop i386 (natively / out of box) best version of ubuntu 1015px?
- there specific option-choices in install / set-up process optima, unique or mandatory 1015px?
- there specific post-installation tweaks best suit 1015px?
- there specific need know or during install given win7 starter pre-intalled on 1015px?
- clear keystroke-specific answers these types of questions *always* archived @ specific website/url should using?
i'd install , tweaks right first time around, appreciate keystroke-specific instructions wherever possible (or referrals them elsewhere).
thank can offer. i'll answer follow-up questions best can.
fwiw: i'll post keystroke-specific, start-to-finish guide (install , tweak u v.? on 1015px) once through this, subject editing board-masters see fit - if there's value in that.
i'm including dump of 1015px system-specs below in case need taken account.
