Thread: limit/reduce laptop screen (partly broken)

hi,

have laptop partly broken screen. 20% on right , @ top not working anymore.

suppose can limit screen intact part xrandr.

tried following command:

ulrike@ulrikes:~$ xrandr --output lvds1 --fb 900x700+0+0
the size of screen reduced although error message

xrandr: specified screen 900x700 not large enough output lvds1 (1280x800+0+0)
the problem is, "virtual screen" extends further. unity bar example extends until right edge, can't access buttons there don't see them.

there other solution or additional commands reduce size of screen "on levels"?

in addition, can't define distance top necessary first 20 pixels @ top broken, too.

want ubuntu use defined area.

thanks!

try ctrl alt - or ctrl alt +
