Thread: Ubuntu 11.04 not working after intstalling Unity

hello,
having acer asipre 5742 laptop i5-480m processor, 4 gb ddr3 memory & hd led scrren. having ubuntu 10.10 & have upgraded 11.04 & panels stopped working. installed unity & laptop stopped working. after ubuntu splash screen goes & login window comes, laptop hangs & not able access it. logged recovery mode & root console removed unity & tried login again laptop didn't respond. in recovery mode tried login safe mode low graphics on there mouse & keyboard didn't responded. attached external mouse & able go safe mode. still situation same. there way make ubuntu work again without losing data? please me. thanks.

if can't work, boot live cd , pick upgrade option, make sure live cd ubuntu 10.10 or 11.04 or 11.10. reinstall upgrade should keep files untouched.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
