Adding Slo Mo to a clip that's between 2 other clips? Not working Correctly

hi,

i have timeline full of clips.

i inseet clip 4 seconds long between 2 clips on timeline.

i want make inserted clip 8 seconds long,

i highlight clip in timeline, go "speed/duration", dialog box opens , change time 8 seconds or 50%.

on timeline, top of clip turns red, needs rendered, clip says it's 8 seconds, still 4 seconds.

why?

when take same clip , put on end of timeline there no clip in front or behind , change speed, works correctly.

why?

can insert clip between 2 other clips on timeline , perform "slow motion?" clip should bigger , rest of clips should move down right.

why not work in premiere pro cs 5.5?

it doesn't work way... changing speed of clip

in timeline not perform automatic ripple edit.

you need have enough gap accommodate new duration.
