Encore CS3 Menu Buttons only Show *Parts* of the Highlight State

been running cs3 occasional issue 2 years on current windows 7 machine.

 

i have lot of repeating video series clients maintain templates of menus don't have "re-invent wheel" each time need them.

 

i had reformat c: drive [kill virus  makers]  , re-install of software , encore giving me fits.

 

menues have never had problem in past acting up.

highlights display in photoshop , in menu view in encore, showing proper highlights when "display active" button selected.

 

but preview, or export build, highlight cease work properly, either partially showing in bits or pieces or not @ on buttons.

these menues worked little 2 weeks ago , barely work @ all.

 

oh, , thought menues 16:9, encore keeps defaulting 4:3 every time import them or re-open project has them incorporated.[?]  gives that?

 

any help, no matter how far out, appreciated.

how watching 'build'?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
